I wouldn’t call myself a connoisseur or anything, but I do like a good burger. Although my family and friends think I make a great hamburger at home, going out for a burger is always fun—especially because that one place you thought had the best burger often gets surpassed by somewhere new.
There are plenty of burger joints where you can grab a quick bite here in Grand Cayman. They range from fast food chains offering ultra-processed options like Wendy’s and Burger King to independent spots. Some of these are more fast food–style than others. When it comes to quick grab-and-go options, I’d say Seven Mile Burger probably reigns supreme. Second place, in my opinion, would go to Burger Shack.
Bonnie Moon is a new beachfront restaurant located on Seven Mile Beach, next to Seafire and Indigo. For those who live here, it’s where Calico Jack’s used to be.
What makes this my top pick? First off, the smash burger features two patties cooked to perfection, with just the right amount of salt and seasoning. Between the patties, there’s a generous portion of caramelised onion, and the patties are topped with American cheese. The second reason this burger is great is the bun: it’s soft, spongy, and practically melts in your mouth. Lastly, there’s a mayo-based sauce that’s quite tasty; however, I recommend asking for it on the side so you can add it to your taste.

Located behind the Hampton by Hilton at 22 Piper Way on Seven Mile Beach, Mrs. Piper’s Kitchen is my second-favourite burger option.
The burgers are similar in many ways to Bonnie Moon’s, and if they used the same buns, I’d say it would be a tie. However, I like Bonnie Moon’s bun better, which is why Mrs. Piper’s ranks in second place.
It’s still a fantastic burger option that I highly recommend trying.

Burgers I’ve Not Yet Tried
These are other restaurants people say offer good burgers, but I haven’t tried them yet. I’ll update this review if any of these end up taking over the top two spots.
- Tilly’s (Every Thursday they have a burger, lobster, and bubbles for CI$39 from 5pm)
- Carnivore Smash (Food Truck)
- Carnivore
